A rare mistake from Valentino Rossi resulted in a first-lap crash for the Fiat Yamaha Team rider today, but he remounted and made up a gap of more than 20 seconds to pass two riders and finish in 11th place, despite riding with a broken gear-shifter and a bent handlebar. His team-mate
Jorge Lorenzo rallied in the later stages of a difficult race to finish sixth, whilst Tech 3 rider Colin Edwards kept the Yamaha flag flying on
the podium by taking third.

Both Race 1 and 2 at the Misano World Circuito saw a hard fought battle between several of the Ducatis, both factory and privateer, the two
factory Yamahas and the Suzuki of Neukirchner, with Ducati Xerox factory rider Troy Bayliss eventually taking two third places on the podium.

setting the fastest lap of the race. The Australian dominated the race from start to finish, closing the gap to new series leader Dani Pedrosa to 29 points and bringing himself to within 25 of Valentino Rossi in second place.

Rizla Suzuki MotoGP racer Chris Vermeulen battled to eighth place at
today's British Grand Prix at Donington Park, with replacement rider Ben Spies finishing in 14th to score his first-ever MotoGP points.

Casey Stoner took his second victory of the season and the 40th podium of
his career today with a dominant display at Donington Park. As a result the reigning MotoGP World Champion moved up a place to third in the championship, closing the gap by five points to series leader Valentino Rossi and by nine to Dani Pedrosa, who finished in second and third place
respectively. Yesterday's rain gave way to high winds today but the dry conditions suited Stoner perfectly and the youngster produced a faultless display from the first lap.

Valentino Rossi put yesterday's poor qualifying behind him today with a characteristic charge through the field from ninth on the grid to take second in the Grand Prix of Catalunya. By the time Rossi made it through the pack the race-winner Dani Pedrosa was already some way off in front, but Rossi had a lively battle with Casey Stoner over the last few laps, a replay of last year's race but with the Italian prevailing this time.

(Cycle RAV) will be holding the 2007 Valenzuela Cycle Riders Summit this coming December 30. This project was started in 2005 with 700 riders and in 2006 attended by more than 1,200 participants. This 2007 Summit, more riders representing different cycle riders club in Valenzuela are expected to join which will surely surpass the number of participants in the previous years due to the increase of motorcycle and bicycle riders and enthusiast. Other cycle clubs are welcome to join the summit.

On Behalf of Yamaha Motor Corporation Co. LTD - It is with great sadness that we learn of the death of Norifumi (Norick) Abe (32) on October 7, 2007, following a traffic accident. Norick Abe, as he is fondly known by motorcycle race fans around the world, was competing this season in the JSB1000 class of the All-Japan Championships from the �Y'S GEAR Racing� team. Norick was riding a motorcycle in Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Pref. when he met with an accident at about 6:20 pm and he was pronounced dead at 8:50 pm at the hospital where he was taken for treatment.

Ducati Marlboro Team rider Casey Stoner won his third Grand Prix victory of the year in superb style at Shanghai today, extending his World Championship lead to 15 points after four of 18 races. Team-mate Loris Capirossi also enjoyed a stirring ride, coming through from 14th on the grid to finish in sixth position. Stoner grabbed the lead on the second lap and spent much of the race involved in an intense duel with Valentino Rossi. Eventually Stoner and his Desmosedici GP7 were too strong for the former World Champion, the Australian ending the race three seconds in front. Capirossi, who started from the fifth row after he had been brought down by a rival during qualifying, steadfastly worked his way through the pack despite pain from the arm injury he suffered in the fall.

Apr 23 : Disappointment for Rossi and Edwardson on Unlucky Day in Turkey

High hopes for Valentino Rossi and Colin Edwards went unfulfilled today as the Fiat Yamaha Team riders, who started from first and second on the grid, were both victims of bad luck at Istanbul Park. The pair got a good start and were leading the pack into turn one before Edwards dropped back as he was unable to get enough heat into his tyre and Rossi made a mistake and ran wide at turn eleven. Disaster then struck for Edwards as he was hit from behind by another rider and sent tumbling into the gravel trap in a crash that involved four riders in total. Rossi meanwhile seemed to be going well and had fought back to second behind eventual winner Casey Stoner, before he suffered a serious rear tyre problem that forced him to roll off the gas and drop right back through the field. The Italian had to use all his talents to keep himself in the race and he eventually brought his Yamaha home in tenth position, taking what were a creditable six points under the circumstances.

Fiat Yamaha Team rider Valentino Rossi finished second in the inaugural Grand Prix of the 800cc era today after losing out in a close battle with Casey Stoner (Ducati), who took his first MotoGP win. After starting from pole position for the 46th time in his career, Rossi got a good start but surrendered his lead to the eventual winner as they crossed the line at the end of the first lap with Dani Pedrosa (Honda) and John Hopkins (Suzuki) in close contention. From then on seven-time World Champion Rossi stalked the Australian youngster with both showing their strength in different parts of the track; Rossi's Yamaha was generally faster in the corners whilst the Ducati claimed the advantage on the straights. With four laps to go Rossi made his move and passed but Stoner passed him back over the line and Rossi was unable to stay with him in the final few laps. Stoner eventually took the chequered flag 2.8 seconds clear of Rossi with Pedrosa just holding on for third ahead of Hopkins.

We found some Showa forks I liked and some good settings, plus we tried the new 16 inch Michelin front which felt good. On the straight I feel like I�m a little bit out in the wind and that�s where I�m losing time - towards the end of the straight. I don�t know if it�s partly engine performance and partly aerodynamics. It�s definitely good that we�re going to Phillip Island because we can check the things we tested here at a completely different track next week. I would have liked to have done a long run here but I didn�t really have the strength in my shoulder. The most I did was ten laps in a row because the doc didn�t want me getting carried away here because shoulders sometimes take a while to heal. I�m looking forward to Phillip Island where there�s not so much hard braking.�

Jan 26 : Capirossi and Stoner on the page in final day of testing in Malaysia

The third and final day of testing in Malaysia came to a close today in stifling heat, with Loris Capirossi successfully completing set-up work on his Desmosedici GP7, both on an engine and suspension level and with the tyres. Loris in fact completed an eleven-lap race simulation at an excellent pace, similar to his record time set last year. The Italian ace recorded his quickest time on race tyres, 2m02.146s, on the final lap of his long run, a performance that gave great satisfaction to himself, the Ducati team and to Bridgestone. Like most of his colleagues, Loris then bolted on a qualifying tyre to set the third quickest time of the day.

The Yamaha Factory Racing Team rounded off their first test of 2007 in fine style today, with Valentino Rossi topping the unofficial time sheets after three days of testing. Both Rossi and his team-mate Colin Edwardsm ade more positive progress with Yamaha's new prototype 800cc machine and the team closed the test feeling confident about their level of performance at this stage of the season. Although they finished the day a little earlier than usual, both riders completed their full agenda of work, once again trying several new tyres for Michelin, with Rossi also concentrating on improving the balance of the bike when braking.

Jan 22 : Yamaha�s Helder Rodrigues wins 450 class in Dakar

For the third time since the conception of the new technical
regulations of the Dakar the Yamaha WR450F has been victorious in the hotly
contested 450cc motorcycle class. David won the class in 2004 and
2005 and Helder Rodrigues came close in 2006 when he finished ninth
overall as best Yamaha rider. This year Rodrigues managed to clinch the
450 class title. The Portuguese Enduro star finished two and half hours
behind race winner Cyril Despres (KTM >450cc) to matchs
best performance in 2005 with a fifth position overall. Quad rider Josef
Machanek caused more reason for celebrations in the Yamaha camp with
his overall victory in the Quad category. The Czech proved the speed and
endurance of his Banshee YFZ350 by leading only five fellow competitors
from 13 starters over the finish line.

Jan 22 : Season Gets Underway for Yamaha Factory Racing Team in Sepang

Yamaha Factory Racing Team riders Valentino Rossi and Colin Edwards got the new year off to a promising start at the first MotoGP test of the season in Sepang, Malaysia today, setting the third and fourth fastest times respectively. With all teams now running new 800cc prototype machines, in accordance with the new MotoGP engine capacity limits, the 20-strong field of riders enjoyed good weather throughout the day and Yamaha's two factory riders made the most of a full day of testing. Both riders had completed two tests on the new bike before Christmas and followed on from where they left off today, concentrating on double-checking the information they gathered during those tests and developing the set-up of the new bike, whilst also finding time to test some new Michelin tyres.

After the customary testing ban of just over one and a half months, MotoGP
returned to the track today for the resumption of 800cc development. It was
at the Sepang Circuit in Malaysia where fans had their first chance to see
who leads the way on the new generation of MotoGP bike, with the majority of
premier class teams testing from today until Wednesday.

BAYLISS DESTROYS CIRCUIT BEST LAP ON DAY TWO On the second day of Pirelli tyre tests at Phillip Island Troy Bayliss (Ducati Xerox) took a whole second off the previous best qualifying time, while running a 2007 spec rear and a prototype race front.
His time of 1'31.0 was set in the cooler conditions of the morning, and no other rider got within a second of his time, despite a great improvement in general lap times through the ten rider SBK attendance. Next closest to Bayliss was his team-mate, Lorenzo Lanzi, who scored a 1'32.1.

Now on its 3rd year, the series has generated a fan following among the local residents of Antipolo, Marikina, Cainta and Taytay. It is where a few of the new stars in racing got their first taste of racing.
