June 12 : Daylight Riding Lights ( DRL ) to be implemented next week



The NAMSSA ( National Motorcycle Sports and Safety Association ) has proposed to the MMDA the implementation of a city ordinance with regards to the use of permanent headlights use on all two wheel vehicles on public roads. This was unanimously approved recently in a meeting with the MMDA Council of Mayors.
 

The NAMSSA has been working on this ordinance for over 5 years and to the rescue was the good office of Chairman Bayani Fernando of the Metro Manila Development Authority of which passed their proposed resolution. Effective by June 14, 2007 law enforcers shall be apprehending two wheel motorists that do not have their headlights on during night or day whilst on public roads.

The NAMSSA shall award the MMDA with the international safety seal of approval for their efforts in promoting motorcycles road safety issues in Metro Manila with their move to impose the DRL scheme in our country today of which meets international raod safety standards in accrodnace with the UN, WHO and FIM.

We request all two wheel motorists to spread the information to all our motorcycle riders in public roads in order not to be apprehended by our law enforcers and abide by the law. The MMDA also recognised the authority on NAMSSA sanctioning of two wheel events were in speed is the detrmining factor of the governing body in the country authorized to issue safety event permits.
