Sept 06: NAMSSA together with other motorsports...

NAMSSA together with other motorsports organizers have stopped the Energy regulatory board in issuing regulations and the banning of motorsports in the Philippines in the near future thru our presented manifest below:

MANIFESTATION

September 1, 2005

Let it be known that the NAMSSA is the governing body of Philippine Motorcycle Sports in the country today. It is affiliated with the Federation Internationale de Motocycliste, Philippine Olympic Committee and recognized by the Philippine Sports Commission.

WHERE AS, the Philippine government thru its Energy Regulatory body has plans to regulate and forbid motorsports events in the Philippines in the near future due to the Oil price hike issue.

The NAMSSA and its members strongly object to this decision due to the following valid grounds:

1) In the whole world member nations of the world governing body for motorsports ( 96 countries ) as reported by NAMSSA to the world governing body in FIM Switzerland it is only the Philippines government that plans to forbid and regulate motorsports in their country. There is no oil crisis just an oil price hike.

2) The Philippines uses the Asian Motocross Championships organized annually to promote the Philippines thru the ESPN global television production which is shown to over 490 million households to promote the country thru tourism and thus attract potential investments and tourist whom bring in dollars to the country.

3) In all motorsports events in the Philippines one event takes a maximum time of 20 minutes only and occurs only once a month of which does not effect the fuel supply of the county in what so ever form.

4) That the said motorsports association and organizers are completely independent from government financing and assistance and thus has developed with their own private sector financing, therefore it is not in the jurisdiction of the government to interfere in their development of the said motorsport projects.

5) We have a motorsports industry of around 4,000 people whom shall be displaced with loss of income due to this decision to regulate motorsport. How will our energy department shoulder their living expenses of these displaced families ?

6) The Philippines is the defending Asian Motocross Champion with our own national Philippine rider of whom is Asian Champion in 18 countries due to our program in our national competitions, without this how can we produce future champions for the country ?

7) There is no Oil fuel crisis, it’s just a price hike of which our motorsports industry is self reliant from the private sector and should be without government intrusion and control.

8) May we suggest that the day light saving time be put in place in order to minimize the fuel consumption of the country without affecting too much private citizens and not displacing the livelihood of other country men.

Thank you very much and we shall be on call for any further queries you may have to defend our position .
