Rizla Suzuki MotoGP will be in Catalunya this weekend for the first of a hectic three weekends that will see it race in Spain, Holland and Great Britain The first port-of-call is the Montmelo circuit near Barcelona in Spain, for the Gran Premi Cinzano de Catalunya. This modern circuit is a great test of machinery and tyres alike, and both Suzuki and Bridgestone will be working intensely to get the best set-up for the Suzuki GSV-R. This weekend will also give Rizla Suzuki a good indication of how far the GSV-R has come since the pre-season testing, in very different conditions, in March. John Hopkins and Chris Vermeulen both performed well in those pre-season tests and will be eager to continue from where they left off. Hopkins topped the time-sheets during final day’s dry session whilst Vermeulen narrowly missed out on winning a BMW car during the Official MotoGP Test timed session – held in very wet condition.

Le Mans, France - Camel Yamaha Team rider Valentino Rossi's unfortunate start to his MotoGP World Championship defence continued today as the Italian rider was hit by another bout of bad luck at Le Mans, where he was forced to retire from the lead with an engine problem. This time his team-mate Colin Edwards was also hit by the jinx, the American being pushed wide in the second corner of the race and running into the gravel traps. The silver lining to the day for the team on a cloudy day in France was that Edwards did manage to get back on track and charge through from last place to finish in sixth - arguably the individual rider performance of the race.
